Born in US, she, alongside her family, moved to Amman, Jordan for a year before returning to their home country. As a school student, she was a promising athlete and participated in relay races. She is also a talented writer who has taken part in several writing contests. Following high school, Carlson studied at Knox College where she became active in the college’s theatre department, performing in the productions of ‘A Lie of the Mind,’ ‘Noises Off,’ and ‘Fifth of July.’ She eventually made her professional debut in 1992, landing roles in both the small and the big screen.
