The arrests of Young Thug and Gunna caught music lovers off guard.
The rappers, who are close friends and colleagues, were reportedly detained on a number of serious accusations on Monday, May 9.
Are Young Thug and Gunna friends?
As he developed his craft on his Drip Season mixtape series, Gunna enlisted Thug for help on songs like “Cop Me a Foreign” and “Secure the Vibe,” while also scoring a feature on his label boss’ “Tomorrow ‘Til Infinity.” Gunna’s star was rising by 2018, with four features on Thug’s Slime Language collection. Thug reciprocated with guest rhymes on two Drip Season 3 tracks, as well as an appearance on Gunna and Baby’s collaborative project, Drip Harder.
With Gunna making the XXL Freshman Class and Thug securing his first No. 1 album with So Much Fun, 2019 has been an even larger year for both musicians.
One of the project’s highlight tunes is their collaboration, “Hot,” which peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their most successful joint effort to date.
